I am a woman who travels solo. I am a woman who has been taught over and over how to keep herself safe while at home or on the road. I have a bit of a problem with these teachings and I really realized it when the very things that I hate being told out of caution that I am a girl who travel was written in black and white on the pages of a travel guide.
When I got sick in Madagascar I thought that was the lowest point in my travel experiences to date… boy was I wrong. Turns out my worst experience abroad would happen on my way home from Madagascar.
January 1, 2016 I headed off to South Africa. My time from South Africa isn’t shared very much here on the blog because that South African adventure was pre Just Stay Stoked. I decided, 4 ish years later, It’s time to let some of the South African beauty live here on the blog. After all, most of the adventures that have been shared here are a result of that first, big, solo trip.
We’ve all got that list of things we hope to accomplish, our dream destinations, adventures we wish to have. Today I’m sharing my bucket list of adventures I want to have- though the list is ever changing and evolving. While some of these are location specific, this is not a list of the places I dream to explore, that list is much longer. Today, we are talking activities, big moments, thrills, endurance- that’s the kind of adventures that are on today’s bucket list!
I’ve shared about the time that a cut in my foot reminded me of my make shift first aid abroad and how cutting a mango reminded me of when that sweet fruit was one of my days biggest highlights, but today’s little thing that sparked nostalgia was a bottle of grapefruit rosé.
Remember how I went to Bali almost 2 years ago? Well, I recorded a bunch of little videos while I was there that I never did anything with and I figured it was time to change that. I finally opened up iMovie and played with editing. Here it is the video from that one time in Bali!
When I arrived in South Africa 4 years ago, I was greeted to a little photo on the wall with some sweet, simple words. The words have stuck with me ever since and now I’m sharing what exactly they mean to me!
Social media makes it so easy to forget that behind every perfectly curated and shared photo there’s usually more to the story. I figured that I’d share are a few of the realities behind a few of my favorite travel photos to show a few of my travel realities!
14- That’s how many weekends in a row I’ll be spending away from home. I’ll be flying for all but maybe 2 or 3 of those weekends. As I’m writing this I’m sipping a cup of tea hoping to sooth what feels like the start of a sore throat. It’s safe to say I’m taking precautions to keep my body feeling it’s best amongst air travel, long days, and cold and flu season. These things have become staples in my carry on bag to help stay healthy during season:
In today's Shop Spotlight, I'm sharing a little bit about why I love the "Marbled Seas" print the I shot while in Nusa Penida, Indonesia!

I've been back to Jacksonville many times since dropping out of school, but this is the first time I felt emotional towards the city. It wasn't a bad emotional though. To my surprise I was emotional because of the lack of negativity I have towards the space. I could very well have vowed to never return to this place that is filled so much with memories of loneliness, home sickness, struggle, injury, darkness and unhealthy coping. Instead, I continue to return and make new positive memories here.
If you are looking for a quick weekend away to dip your toes in the ocean, soak in a little sunshine, relax and maybe catch a few waves then Jacksonville, Florida is for you! My sister and I spent a couple days in Jacksonville and here’s a little recap!

Anyways, I decided I’d share a few tips I have for international travel to make your life a little easier and to put your mind at ease a little bit!
In today’s Shop Spotlight, I’m sharing the about the day that I took the “Batur Mist” print!

While it is super convenient traveling with only carry on luggage, there are some questions that come up regarding exactly what can go through security in your carry on luggage, and today I’m going to clear up some of the common ones for you!
Bouncing between jobs, coffee shop work spaces and my own unfinished office has me feeling very go go go lately and through it all I’ve found that I have a few reoccurring thoughts popping into my head throughout the week.
This time last year I was in Madagascar. Madagascar was a rocky trip for me. I struggled a lot and was sick a lot but, and I know this is super cheesy, it forced me to learn a lot. The biggest thing I learned was the power of mindset.
My mind has been wandering to many far off places recently. I’ve been busy day dreaming of new adventures. Top things on the list recently?
This past weekend my family and I headed out to New Jersey for Sea.Hear.Now music festival, because if you know my parents you know it's hard for them to ignore a fun, different opportunity to see Dave Matthews Band.
This time last year I was roaming about in Bali and hanging with turtles. Being the nostalgic person I am I decided now would be the perfect time to look back at my travel journal and relive some of my Bali memories.
Okay, I know I am totally guilty of being that girl who has one too many stories that start with "That reminds me of this time in *insert destination here*." I'm okay with that.
Remember back in April when I went to London and Amsterdam? Actually, you probably don't. I didn't share too much about that trip on here because, I don't know, life.
About a week or so ago, while slicing up a mango, I was briefly brought back to my time in Madagascar. I started to reminisce about the joy and excitement our whole camp felt when we would show up to a meal to find a tray of ripe mangos sliced for dessert.
So, where to next? This is hands down the question that I get asked the most. From my friends, to my family, to friends of my parents that I barely know, everyone's question is always about where I am heading next.
I am a huge fan of some street art. I find it wildly impressive what can be created with a can of spray paint, so when I heard about Leake Street Tunnel I knew I would be making a stop during my trip to London.
This past weekend I got on my first flight since March. I figured I’d share my full experience traveling from O’hare International Airport to give you a little bit of insight as to what flying looks like right now during this pandemic.
