Shop Spotlight: Batur Mist
“Friday September 14, 2018
Today stated nice and early, before the sun at 1:30am. We met at the front of the house at 2am to head to Mt. Batur for our sunrise hike. We hiked in the dark with our headlamps for about 2 hours. It was a fairly challenging hike, the last 30 min or so being the most challenging. It was super steep and slippery and some spots felt like rock climbing. Once we reached the top, boy was it rewarding! We made it with perfect timing, right as the sky started to color. We warmed up with hot chocolate at the top of the volcano while colors filled the sky. Words truly can’t do justice for the beautiful sight. Defiantly tops the list of best sunrises.”
These are the few words I wrote in my journal from the day I hiked Mt. Batur, an active volcano, while in Bali in 2018. It’s true the view from the top is hard to put into words, but I’m going to try. We sat bundled in the most layers I’ve ever worn while in Bali- leggings, thick socks, sweater, and rain jacket. We drank little cups of hot chocolate while watching the sky completely fill with colors and admired Mt. Agung in the distance. Once the sky started turning blue, we explored the top of the volcano, watched some feisty monkeys scavenging for food and watched as a misty fog filled the sky.
So that’s a little bit of backstory of Batur Mist, one of my favorite photos in the Just Stay Stoked Shop. It was taken early one misty September morning, atop an active volcano, immediately after an epic sunrise.
