14- That’s how many weekends in a row I’ll be spending away from home. I’ll be flying for all but maybe 2 or 3 of those weekends. As I’m writing this I’m sipping a cup of tea hoping to sooth what feels like the start of a sore throat. It’s safe to say I’m taking precautions to keep my body feeling it’s best amongst air travel, long days, and cold and flu season. These things have become staples in my carry on bag to help stay healthy during season:

My essentials for staying healthy while traveling: vitamin C, elderberry, tea, tissues, cough drops, on guard essential oils, abreva, and lots of water!

1. Vitamin C and lots of it!

I travel with Airborne vitamin C gummies, which I take on a daily basis, and Emergen-c packets just incase. Vitamin C is like my right hand man for boosting the immune system!

2. Elderberry

I’ve heard so many people swear by this! Elderberry is loaded with antioxidants and is said to aid in preventing and easing symptoms of colds and the flu. I’ve added it to my kit to take when I feel the slightest bit of sickness coming on! I take elderberry in gummy form too (because I’m a child and am more likely to take gummy vitamins 🤷🏼‍♀️)

3. Tea

More often than not when I feel myself coming down with something I feel it in my throat first. I keep a little stash of tea for something warm and soothing.

4. Cough Drops

Speaking of soothing the throat- I lost my voice while announcing one weekend and now will never be caught without cough drops again!

5. Tissues

It’s nice to have some quality tissues packed with you because let’s be real, no one wants to use the cheap hotel ones.

6. On Guard Essential Oils

I use On Guard as a hand sanitizer. It’s a blend of orange, cinnamon, clove, rosemary and eucalyptus.

7. Abreva

I am prone to cold sores and the are more likely to flare up when I’m sick or about to be sick. I swear by Abreva! This and a little bit of antibacterial silver spray help cut the healing and pain in half! I've found myself in an Italian pharmacy before trying to communicate through sign language that I needed something for my cold sores. Since then I've realized it's just better to travel with it.

8. Water

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. The remedy for so many things. Your body can’t function at it’s best when dehydrated and flying really sucks you dry. I picked up a new water bottle that is proving to be a perfect size for travel.
