Thoughts from the Surf
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still daydreaming of the perfect (and warm by October lake standards) lake surf I had a little over a week ago! Clean lines with varying sizes and speeds made for a perfect day to work on my surf skills! I even have started to figure out the art of turning (only on rights though. I haven't figured out the art of turning into a left, but all in time!)
During this stellar 2.5 hour lake surf a couple thoughts popped into my head and while they are nothing profound I liked them and wanted to share!
1. Being covered in 5-7mm of neoprene makes is so easy and relaxing to just float. Letting myself just kick back and float between sets was dreamy. Sun shining on my face, cool water slipping into my hood, and my wetsuit covered body just bobbing along side my board that's tethered to my ankle. It really is a feeling of weightlessness and it's hard not to love.
2. Maybe I should try to learn to skateboard again. I feel like now that I have a pretty decent hang of surfing it may be easier for me to try and learn to skate. I tried briefly a few years ago, but gave up after I ate it a time or two. I think it may be time to try again (maybe with pads and a helmet this time?)
3. The Universe and Mama Nature are pretty good at delivering exactly what you need when you need it. A really really good surf was exactly what I needed to start to defunk my head and start to get my creativity flowing and man, I am thankful for it! I was riding on a high the rest of the day with a big cheesy smile plastered on my face.
