2018.

Each new year I write some sort of post reflecting on the past year. This year I figured I’d try a little something different; I decided to write a letter to myself. I decided to write a letter to the me of January 1, 2018 to give her some insight into her year, because what a year it has been.

Dearest me,

I hope you have enjoyed ringing in the new year with your favorite people. Well, you better buckle up because you are about to have one hell of a year.

You are going to start new jobs. Some of the jobs you will hate, but some you will love. You will do work that you enjoy; it won’t feel like work.

You are going to become a little bit obsessed with a little musical called Hamilton. Learn the words, because tickets to the show are coming. Take it all in with awe.

You are going to welcome the beach back into your summers, the dream place to work. It won’t be the same as it was your first go around, but what ever is? This will be a summer you use to grow your leadership skills.

Come mid summer, you will finally take charge of your health, with the help of a lovely soul you met on Instagram. You will get off your butt, lift some weights, do some HIIT, and start to love your body. What a beautiful feeling that is. That body love and confidence will radiate through to every area of your life because when you feel good you automatically look better and act like a better human. You go girl.

You will break down. You will panic and worry. You will feel like you can’t function. On the flip side, you will pick yourself up off the ground… literally. You will have to pick yourself off the ground outside of work and move forward (not your proudest moment, but don’t dwell on that. Everyone has low days.) Of course you couldn't do it with out the help of your family and closest friends, hold them close to you because they are keepers.

After nearly 13 years and too many dentist appointments to count, your smile will finally be completed. Be prepared for the happy tears, you are going to fall completely in love with your own smile for the first time.

Some of the anxiety will dwell, but you will hop on a plane because Bali is calling. It will be one of the hardest trips to set off on but spoiler alert, you are about to grow in ways you could never imagine in the next few months.

When you return to Bali, you are met with incredible people (you always find your kind of people in Bali). You are going to have to go to the dentist, which was an interesting, unexpected adventure. You will swim with mantas and take care of sea turtles. You will walk around the island holding back tears in your eyes as you see the beauty around you littered with plastic and trash. Bali will serve as your constant reminder why you preach about how bad plastic is (usually enough to annoy your family.)  Oh and you are going to drink lots of milk shakes…maybe too many.

Your time in Bali will come to a close too soon and you will move from Bali to Madagascar. Madagascar will test you, but some beautiful things will come out of it. You will meet more great people. You will learn how to really sort out and deal with your thoughts, by putting a pen to paper. You will be inspired to write in a way you never have been before. You will help build a health clinic in an area with no water or electricity. You will get sick and be kept out of the water for the majority of your trip. You will see just how lucky you are. You will come home stronger… though also sicker.

Thanksgiving will be spent with the usual crew in the usual place, which is always a great time. The Florida Keys will serve as a great place to reunite with your people.

You will make a choice to commit to things you love. You are going to take the time to really commit to your blog. You will share your stories and ramblings with who ever is interested in reading them. You will decide to dive further into the Beachbody world in hopes of helping others love themselves as fully as possible.

Ultimately what I’m am trying to tell you is get ready because by the time the year is up you will have gone through every emotion, but most importantly you will have felt a shift. A year from today you will realize that you have shifted towards positivity. You will be so incredibly happy where you are. You are sill figuring things out, I think you always will be, but you are going to have this overwhelming feeling of comfort because you can tell you are headed down the right road. Take in every moment, appreciate it, and learn from it. Each little moment this year will help you sit where I am, at years end, realizing that you are in the best place you have ever been. 2018 will be one that you won't forget.

Appreciate the good and learn from the bad.

With love,

Me
