Surviving the Sun: My Essentials
While down in the Keys I put together a little list of my essentials for when I am spending my days in the sun and on the beach. I thought I might as well share it since the count down to summer here at home is in full swing!

Sunbum Sunscreen
I LOVE Sunbum sunscreen! It is my go to! I use their body and their face products (they sell a lotion formula and a face stick both of which are great). Their sunscreen smells good, helps me not burn to a crisp and are all vegan and paraban free which is always a plus.
Hawaiian Tropic Aftersun Lotion
Again I LOVE this stuff! It is my go to for giving my skin the moisture it needs after a long day of sun and sand and it helps to sooth any sunburns (because even though I fully trust the Bum, sometimes the sun wins and I do end up a little toasty.) I even use this aftersun lotion throughout the winter because like I said it's moisturizing and it just smells like vacation.
Lip Balm of Any Kind
My go to lately has been Burt's Bees Cucumber Mint lip balm. It smells super fresh and helps moisturize my lips. I don't think there is any SPF in this one, so I usually steal what ever SPF lip stuff my mom has stashed in her beach bag. Sunburnt lips are NO fun so giving your lips a little SPF love in the sun is a must.
A Good Conditioner
My hair is naturally curly so once I'm in the water, be it salt water or even just freshwater from the lake, my hair tends to tie itself into knots. A good conditioner is a must to be able to get a brush through my hair at the end of the day. Oh, and said conditioner needs to preferably smell like coconut. I've currently been using this one from Beauty & Planet.
*Not pictured but another go to: The Sunbum leave in conditioner is AMAZING. It has the signature Sunbum scent and helps detangle my hair and keep it soft!
Sunglasses
I think sunglasses are pretty self explanatory. Protects your eyes.
A Hat
My go to is a baseball style hat to help keep some sun off of my face when I'm starting to feel fried. This last trip I also picked up a wide brimmed straw hat to help cover my shoulders a bit too.
So there you have it! A quick little list of some things my skin, my hair, and I love for days spent in the sun!
