Remember That Time I Went to Madagascar?

Sunset on Nosy Iranja

If you know me, or just follow me on social media, you may know that this past fall I set off on a trip. I've shared tons of photos and made a handful of blog posts about my 3 weeks in Bali, but what I have talked about much less is the 6 weeks I spent in Madagascar immediately following Bali.

So why so little talk about Madagascar?

I guess I've had a hard time putting complete thoughts about my time in Madagascar into words. If we are being completely open and honest, I struggled in Madagascar. A lot. I was home sick, trying to work myself through some returning anxiety, I was further out of my element than I had ever been before, and then I got sick.

If you have talked to me at all about my time in Madagascar, my general answer is, "It was really good, except for the fact that I spent a majority of the time sick."

In a lot of ways getting sick in Madagascar has become the main thing I associate with the trip, which is unfair. There was so much more to that trip than just me getting sick, and I want to share it all. The good and the bad (because trust me it was a rollercoaster.)

So, it's time to talk about Madagascar. It will probably be hard and the words may seem messy, but that's life.

I hope you all will stick around the next couple of weeks while I start to share some photos, some stories, and maybe some of the raw thoughts that I journaled while I was gone.

First post you can expect? The full story about getting sick and going to a doctor in Madagascar. After that, it will be time to talk about the rest of the 6 weeks.
